Two weeks into a month long flying trip, sitting in the Global Lounge in KUL awaiting a 3 AM Emirates flight to Geneva via connection in Dubai.
Kicking off this adventure was a pair of weeks in Bali with Cloudbase Paragliding out of Australia, joined by my non-flying partner trying her hand at SCUBA. While winds didn’t always cooperate, on the days they did – it was amazing butter smooth coastal ridge soaring. Especially in Candidasa – my best was 3.5 hours of stress free boating about over black sand beaches and turquoise ocean – Candi is a very special site indeed. And this gift emphasizes the need to be hyper vigilant about the expectation of the locals and not flying anywhere near (and especially over) the temple at the ridge peak. Visitors please take note lest we risk losing the site for flying.
In addition to the amazing flying, I want to highlight that the guiding, logistics, and comms with the CB crew (Mark, Chris, and Steve) was absolutely top notch and I would highly recommend to anyone considering flying Bali to seize the opportunity to join CB on future tours.
But for now, another hour+ to go before boarding and onto the Alps for a bit of mountain air.
